This guide shows how to register a RAK gateway to ChirpStack v4, a LoRaWAN® Network Server (LNS) used to manage and route LoRaWAN traffic. Gateway registration is required to link your hardware to the network stack and begin processing uplinks and downlinks.
RAK offers various indoor and outdoor lorawan gateway models, each with specific hardware features and configuration methods. Refer to your gateway’s model-specific resources for accurate setup steps, especially when locating the Gateway EUI or configuring the packet forwarder.
The following steps guide you through the gateway registration process in ChirpStack v4.
1. Open a web browser and go to your ChirpStack server address on port 8080.
For example: http://<ChirpStack_Server_IP>:8080
2. Log in using the default credentials:
- Username/email: admin
- Password: admin
3. Navigate to Gateways.
4. Click Add gateway.
5. Fill in the required fields, then click on Submit:
- Name: A unique name for the gateway.
- Description: A short description to help identify the gateway.
- Gateway ID (EUI64): The 64-bit unique ID of the gateway. You can find this in the gateway’s Web UI under Dashboard > Overview, or on the physical label of the gateway enclosure (marked as GWEUI).
- Stats interval (secs): The interval (in seconds) at which the gateway reports statistics.
You will now be able to see your gateway on the gateway list in the ChirpStack v4 web interface.
