For detailed information on the specifications and capabilities of the various equipment needed for deployment, refer to each product’s detailed Datasheet in our robust Documentation Center as found below:

Carefully plan your deployment considering topology, required LoRaWAN coverage area, sensor disbursement, amount of sensor traffic, and other factors. Purchase the required gateways, Sensor Hubs, solar solutions, and sensors from the official RAKwireless webstore. Don’t forget to select appropriate antennas to facilitate high quality LoRaWAN coverage and network stability.

Following our detailed Quick Start Guide for RAK7289V2 WisGate Edge Pro will allow you to quickly and easily configure your gateways’ WAN connection and other settings and complete robust, weather resistant and long lasting field deployments. Our Quick Start Guide for RAK9155 Battery Plus will guide you through installing and connecting the solar power solution to your gateways.

Using the appropriate section of our LoRaWAN Network Server Guide, integrate your gateways with your desired LNS or use the Built-in Network Server mode to transmit your LoRaWAN sensor data.

For more information on WisGate, refer to our article: Getting Started with Your WisGate Gateway Product.

Verify Network Coverage

Following our Quick Start Guide for RAK10701-P WisNode Field Tester for LoRaWAN will allow you to configure your field tester appropriately to work with your gateways and desired LNS configuration. Once configured, you can accurately test the LoRaWAN coverage provided by your new deployment and verify there are no coverage dead spots by viewing the tester data on your desired platform or by simply viewing the physical display of the field tester.

If coverage gaps are identified, changes may be required to gateway deployment locations, chosen antennas, or additional gateways may need to be deployed to ensure complete coverage depending on your unique deployment needs.

Configure and Deploy Sensor Hubs and Sensors

Following our Quick Start Guide for RAK2560 WisNode Sensor Hub will walk you through configuring your Sensor Hub platforms for use with your gateways and desired LNS. Our Installation Guide for Sensor Hub will assist with completing high quality, long lasting field deployments. The Installation Guide for RAK9154 Solar Battery Lite will guide you through connecting the solar solution to your Sensor Hubs to provide consistent power, no matter where you deploy.

Our Sensor Probe IO Datasheet will assist with accurately integrating any third-party sensors with your Sensor Hubs, ensuring they are connected correctly. If using any premade Sensor Hub Solutions kits such as Soil pH Monitoring, Soil Temperature, Humidity, and Conductivity Monitoring, or Weather Station Monitoring, complete and detailed setup guides can be found in the Sensor Hub Solutions section of our Documentation Center which will guide you through all aspects of setup and configuration.

For deployments using any of the RAKwireless Sensor Probe or Sensor Probe IO sensor solutions, a Sensor Hub Standardized Payload Decoder can be found in our Github repo for quick and easy decoding of sensor data.

For more information on Sensor Hub, refer to our article: Getting Started with Your Sensor Hub Product.

Each of the various subsections of our Sensor Hub LoRaWAN Network Server Guide walk you through visualizing your sensor data with various platforms such as Datacake and ThingsBoard.

You can also find additional resources showing tips on utilizing your sensor data such as our article on How To Visualize Sensor Data on Datacake Using Chirpstack or our video on How To Send your Sensor Hub data to Datacake using TTN and WisGate Edge.

Taking your raw sensor data and transforming it into charts, graphs, gauges, and a multitude of other forms truly unlocks the power of your LoRaWAN deployment. It allows you to derive actionable insights from your sensor readings, leading to truly powerful improvements that would not otherwise be possible without it.
